Positive Behaviour Support

What do we offer?

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centred, evidence-based approach designed to improve quality of life and reduce behaviours of concern in individuals with additional needs—such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, learning disabilities, or complex behavioural challenges.

Rather than simply trying to manage or suppress behaviour, PBS aims to understand the underlying reasons behind it. This involves identifying what the individual is trying to communicate through their behaviour and working collaboratively with families, carers, and professionals to build meaningful, practical strategies that support positive change.

  • The process begins with understanding the individual’s strengths, needs, and the reasons behind behaviours of concern. This is achieved through functional behaviour assessments that aim to identify what triggers and maintains behaviours.

Based on these insights, a personalised support plan is developed that focuses on teaching new skills, modifying environments, and using positive strategies to reduce challenging behaviours. The plan is then implemented by trained caregivers or staff, with ongoing monitoring and adjustments to ensure it remains effective and improves the individual’s quality of life over time.

  • Organisations supporting individuals with emotional and behavioural challenges need PBS to foster safer, more positive environments. PBS reduces incidents of challenging behaviour, lowering risk while boosting staff confidence and promoting consistent care. By emphasizing proactive, person-centred strategies, PBS improves service quality, ensures compliance with safeguarding standards, and leads to better outcomes and greater satisfaction for all involved.

  • We work closely with families and organisations to complete comprehensive assessments, develop personalised behaviour support plans, and offer ongoing guidance, training, and progress reviews. Our goal is to create compassionate, evidence-based strategies that truly make a difference.

Support is always tailored, strengths-focused, and grounded in collaboration.

Training ensures staff understand the reasons behind behaviours of concern, learn how to apply proactive interventions, and respond consistently and respectfully. Training is interactive, practical, and designed to empower teams with tools they can immediately apply in their roles—leading to more confident staff, reduced use of restrictive practices and better outcomes for the individuals they support.
